DHA is an essential fatty acid, one of the omega-3 compounds our bodies cannot make; therefore, we must get them through our diet. Omega-3 DHA is found in cold water oily fish like: salmon, herring, mackerel, anchovies and sardines but fish omega-3s come from the microalgae in their food chain.

How do wild fish, more importantly, how do we get these essential nutrients? Omega-3 DHA is autonomously created by microalgae in the oceans of the world at the very origin of the food chain. Using photosynthesis processes still not completely understood, microalgae converts electromagnetic energy from sunlight into chemical energy for carbohydrates and omega-3s. Unique enzyme systems in algae also condense energy into long chain fatty acids in oil stores.
